The wizard of Oz opnieuw verfilmd!

'The wizard of Oz' heb ik altijd een prachtig verhaal gevonden. L. Frank Baum schreef dit kinderboek in 1900(!)  en inmiddels hebben verschillende illustratoren, animators en filmmakers Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion en Tinman een gezicht gegeven.

Mijn drie favourite verfilmingen zijn:

1. The Wiz, met Diana Ross en Michael Jackson, uit 1978. De fantastische Quincy Jones is voor een groot deel verantwoordelijk voor de muziek. Zodra de soundtrack op (dubbel)cd beschikbaar kwam, heb ik 'm meteen gekocht! Dat kostte me toen 70 gulden, een rib uit m'n lijf.. 

2. The wonderful wizard of Oz, animatie-serie uit 1986. Ik wil altijd nog eens de dvd-collectie aanschaffen.. Ik weet nog dat ik niet alleen de Japanse animatie zo lekker dromerig vond, maar ook de muziek zoooo bijzonder.. ja, jazzy, vond. De (Nederlandse) intro zing ik trouwens nog zo'n twee keer per week (op verzoek) voor Judith of Nathan voor het slapen gaan, haha.
Voor die leeftijdsgenoten die ook genoten hebben van deze serie: hier is aflevering 1 t/m 3 (in het Nederlands).

3. The wizard of Oz, met Judy Garland, uit 1939. Ik heb een zwak voor Judy Garland. Ik heb veel van films gezien. En deze film is en blijft natuurlijk een klassieker. Geweldige gimmick was dat ook, dat de film in zwart/wit begint en in kleur uiteen spat zodra Dorothy in Oz arriveert!  

En 8 maart 2013 komt de volgende verfilming! Disney heeft regisseur Sam Raimi gevraagd om het verhaal rond de tovernaar van Oz te vertellen. Bijzondere keus van Disney als je weet dat Raimi de films Evil Dead, Dark Man, Spider-Man en Drag Me to Hell op zijn cv heeft staan.. Ach, mooi wordt het vast!

Er is nog geen (teaser)trailer, maar dit is al wel bekend van 'Oz, The Great and Powerful':
"A small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting.
